报告题目：Sensors, Crowd and Internet of Things

Rapid advances in a number of technologies, and the impact of these advances on the availability and applications of software / hardware tools, are driving a fundamental reconsideration of how we innovate and create value. In this talk, I address two specific issues: the Internet of Things revolution and the crowd-sourcing growth. Both topics are significant for applications of the next generation geomatics technology. I present some projects in sustainable resource development and discuss the small data challenges in the era of big data.
主讲人简介：
Dr. Steve Liang (梁鴻翎) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geomatics Engineering at the University of Calgary in Canada. He received his BSc in 1999 from the National Cheng-Kung University in Taiwan and Ph.D. in 2007 from the York University in Canada. He currently hold the AITF-Microsoft Industry Research Chair on Open Sensor Web. His research work is focused on Geographic Information Science and development of geospatial software tools that interconnects heterogeneous sensors for innovative applications. Steve has been an invited speaker at universities and industries in 11 countries. In the past five years, he received more than $2.5 million research grants. In 2013, Steve was chosen one of Calgary's Top 40 Under 40. He also received the Schulich School of Engineering's Department Early Research Excellence Award as well as the Research Excellence Award. When Steve is not working, he loves snowboarding, hiking, and watching legal and political TV dramas with his wife.
